TORONTO (February 9, 2010) - Aspiring missionaries, Bible translators and linguists may begin studying at Tyndale towards its newest BA degree in linguistics, as early as Fall 2010. This program is the result of a partnership between Tyndale University College and Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada.
Tyndale Chancellor, Dr. Brian C. Stiller, reflects, "We forget that many peoples of this planet have yet to read the Scriptures in their own language. Tyndale in partnering with the Wycliffe Linguistics program is continuing in its mission to make Christ known among nations and make the living Word accessible to people in their journey of faith."
Don Hekman, President of Wycliffe Canada shares this passion to make excellent academic training available in Ontario and Eastern Canada. "Wycliffe Bible Translators of Canada is proud to be associated with Tyndale through this partnership agreement. Over the years many Wycliffe members have received their education at Tyndale, and now, because of this partnership agreement, Tyndale students can receive a solid introduction to linguistics from professors, who are Wycliffe members, bringing with them years of field experience.... We expect that out of this training many young adults will be joining the force of dedicated people involved in Bible translation and education for indigenous minority language groups world-wide."
Tyndale University is an evangelical, trans-denominational institution of Christian higher education, located in Toronto.
