Summary

Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada accomplishes its mission of Bible translation and Scripture use through the people and resources that God has provided and continues to provide.

LBTC staff consists of field missionaries and support staff at the Kitchener Ontario office.

Qualified missionaries serve overseas to work with people in a specific people group to develop a written form for the language which had formerly only been oral. Missionaries are linked with a local Lutheran church body in the country and will work closely with other Bible translation organizations. To learn more about LBTC missionaries, click here.

Overseas Volunteers offer expertise on a short term basis to support missionaries. They can provide assistance with computers, tutor missionary children, work at building upgrades and many other things. To read more about LBTC overseas volunteers, click here.

Staff members at the Canadian office serve as the liaison between missionaries and supporters. They promote LBTC's mission, recruit candidates and engage individuals interested in translation work. Staff serve supporters, pastors and their congregations and those interested in this ministry. They act as the local representatives of overseas missionaries and promote the work of LBTC across Canada. To connect with Canadian staff, click here.

Faithful supporters sustain LBTC with their prayers and financial gifts. Over 500 prayer partners frequently remember LBTC’s work by trusting it to the Lord to provide everything needed. Missionaries and LBTC staff know ministry supporters are a gift from God. To learn more about supporting LBTC as a prayer partner, click here. (Please scroll down when you go to this page)

Financial supporters have been given the gift of sharing their God-given treasures with LBTC thereby supplying it with necessary resources to achieve its mission. To learn about financial supporters or making a gift of support yourself, click here.

Since LBTC formed as a chapter of FaithLife Financial, this fraternal insurance company has blessed LBTC with numerous matching grants. FaithLife Financial also extends matching grant opportunities to congregations that have formed a chapter. When such a congregation holds a fundraising event for LBTC and applies for a matching grant, the amount of support increases substantially. We are grateful for corporate ministry partners like FaithLife Financial.

Other grant-extending foundations have assisted with financial support in the past. LBTC appreciates the contribution made by these foundations that often prefer to remain anonymous.

LBTC volunteers offer their wisdom and dedication to this mission organization in many diverse ways. See below to learn about volunteers are actively involved in LBTC across Canada.

Joint and associate organizations are working partners of Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada. They work closely to avoid overlapping of labour and provide expertise and training wherever possible. LBTC likewise provides these service back to such organizations. To learn about these partnerships, click here.

Volunteers

Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada relies on the dedication and participation of many people so the organization meets its mission commitments. With God as our guide, the driving force in the organization is the volunteers who give of their time, talent and treasures to send missionaries and overseas volunteers to their placements, and maintain the costs of the home office in Canada.

LBTC is governed by a Board of Directors who is elected by voting members. As is the law binding charities in Canada, LBTC directors are unable to accept reimbursement for this responsibility. Directors set policy, make decisions about the future direction LBTC will take and issue calls to candidates to serve as missionaries.
